10) Kyrklund Kyra / Max 1801
Mrs Kyrklund was born in Helsinki on November the 30th 1951. She
has represented Finland in six Olympic Games and four World
Championships. At WEG Stockholm 1990 she won silver with Matador.
She has ridden six World Cup Finals and her best results are first
place 1991 with Matador, third in 1993 with Edinburg and third last
year with Max. Windsor is her sixth appearance in European
Championships. Her best EUCH result is from Lipica 1993 when she
rode Edinburg to fourth place.
Her championships horse Max is a Swedish Warmblood (SWB) dark
bay gelding born in 1995. He is by Master out of a mare by
Alpenfürst . His breeder is Britta-Stina Eriksson from Sweden and
he is owned by Kyra Kyrklund, Yvette Conn and Roy Moed.
Kyra Kyrklund bought Max as a four year old without seeing him.
She trusted a fried who had said that Max had the name Kyra written
on his forehead. When Max was shipped from Sweden to Britain he was
temporarily stabled at Yvette Conns yard. Yvette is a pupil and a
neighbour of Kyra´s and she fell in love with Max. She refused to
let him leave her yard before Kyra allowed her to buy a share in
the horse.
Mrs Kyrklund lives in Coolham, West Sussex where she runs a
training establishment together with her husband and trainer
Richard White. Kyra Kyrklund is one of the top trainers of the
dressage world. Many participants at Windsor are either former or
current pupils of Kyra and Richard White.
